1. When to use it
- Your internal audit programme is behind schedule and your surveillance audit is coming up.
- Your team is too small to audit itself independently. ISO 9001 clause 9.2 requires internal audits to be objective and impartial.
- You run IATF 16949 and need internal auditors who meet the standard’s competence requirements, including core tools and your customers’ specific requirements.
- You want a fresh pair of eyes on a process that keeps producing the same nonconformities.
This is your internal audit, not a certification audit, and no certificate is issued. If your certification audit is only weeks away and you want to rehearse it, see the pre-audit (B5). If you’re months from certification and need to know what’s missing, see the QMS gap assessment (B3) in our services.
2. What we can audit
| Standard | Typical internal audit scope | Typical on site |
|---|---|---|
| ISO 9001:2015 | Selected clauses or processes, or the full system over a year | 1–2 days |
| IATF 16949:2016 | QMS, manufacturing process and product audits, with customer-specific requirements | 2–3 days |
| ISO 14001:2015 | Environmental aspects, compliance obligations, operational control | 1–2 days |
| ISO 13485:2016 | Design controls, production and process controls, CAPA, complaint handling | 1–3 days |
We can cover one audit in your programme, or several spread across the year so that every clause or process is audited at the frequency your programme sets.
3. How it runs
- BeforePlanYou send your internal audit programme, previous audit results and the scope for this audit. We return an audit plan and checklist at least five working days before the visit.
- OpeningOpening meetingScope, timetable, the people we need to see, and how findings will be graded.
- On siteInterviews, floor and recordsEach process in scope is followed from its inputs to its outputs. We interview the people who run it and sample records against your procedures and the standard.
- ClosingClosing meetingFindings with their evidence, graded major, minor or observation, and confirmed with you before we leave.
- AfterReportTarget: within five working days. Report in your format or ours, nonconformities with evidence, and corrective-action requests.
4. What you receive
- Audit plan and completed checklist
- Internal audit report, with each nonconformity tied to a clause of the standard and to the evidence seen
- Corrective-action requests in your system’s format
- Records suitable for your certification file and your management review
- On request, a follow-up visit to verify corrective actions (CAPA verification, A6)
5. Independence
The auditor won’t audit a process they designed, implemented or advised on for you in the past two years. You keep responsibility for your internal audit programme; we carry out the audits it assigns to us. This follows section 3 of our independence policy.
6. Who performs it
An auditor with a verified internal-auditor or lead-auditor qualification for the standard. For IATF 16949, the auditor must also meet the standard’s internal-auditor competence requirements. ISO 13485 internal audits are offered once our auditor with that qualification has completed verification.
7. Price
From S$1,800 for one day on site plus reporting. Your quotation adds hotel and transport at cost, travel time, and anything specific to your programme, such as more processes, more shifts or a second site.
